In May, for a conference, I want to find best flexible fare for someone coming Cambridge to Oakham on a Monday (off peak), then Oakham to London next day (arriving before 0930) then back to Cambridge (probably but not certainly) in the evening peak. Any exotic suggestions?

And why does Classic Trainsplit find an advance fare for the 0742 Oakham to Kings Cross (arr 0919) - but hit flexible and the 0742 disappears?
