Nothing I can think of for Mongo to get stuck under. A5 Shrewsbury bypass is way to high, the road goes over the railway at Yockleton B road to Montgomery, an unclassified goes over the cutting at Middletown and the A458 at Trewern.

Its a little cattle bridge just outside Westbury. Maybe some cows got wedged in it!!!!

It was quite a serious strike as well. Someone had to travel from Cardiff to inspect it. Repair work was needed, this was completed at 01:30. Two hours or so was given for the bonding to set. During this time 6Z98 was trapped immediately to the west of it, and east of the summit at Plas-y-Court. It was too steep a gradient for it to propel westwards up, so it couldn't be returned to Welshpool. Instead, it was abandoned just west of Westbury, I believe. Fresh crew were booked to come back to it at 5am, ready to leave at 05:30 when SBJ box reopens.

The middle section of the station building has a new tenant who has opened it up as a Cafe and small shop. There aiming to be open from 0600 to 2200 Monday to Saturday. The announcement of the extra trains from next May appears to have been a factor behind them taking the plunge on the expectation of increased footfall.
The wooden boxes on the DOWN platform are a vegetable patch planted by the Cwm Harry Land a Trust.
The flower beds @ Caersws are well worth a look at and work is progressing on turning the station building into a boutique hostel/hotel.

0507 MCH to Pwllheli cancelled north of Barmouth as 2 units now overnight at Pwllhelli.
0810 MCH to Aber cancelled and replaced by 0625 Salop to Aber using same unit and running earlier west of MCH.

ATW Stakeholder managers are attending the local RUG mtg in Tywyn this Saturday, I'm sure a trip on a Saturday to a remote location will be accompanied by some positive news. We have seen the following Mays tt consultation pre Xmas but in other years it's been closer to the date.

If WG continue to fund Gerald as open access,although this is a big change,with stops at Ruabon/Chirk/Gobowen, funding currently £1.5M PA from revenue account and £700K PA for hire in of stock.
I am not surprised, as running Gerald via Wrexham involved three extra 158 units a day to service the above three stations.I wonder will Gerald on the down also stop at the three stations to release the 1920? 158 that runs to service smaller stations.

Putting IG93 back via Wrexham rather than Crewe also works if Gerald is Axed as this will join up with 0630 from Aberystwyth at Salop. IG93 does make stops between Crewe and Salop but there's changes on heart of wales and running some of their services through to Crewe on cards.

I agree, but we have all this everything from Wrexham goes to Cardiff obsession,replacing Gerald with the Holyhead/Birmingham is a far better option for commuters than hang around Shrewsbury for 20 minutes.The 0745 is very busy with commuters from Wrexham & especially Gobowen many going to the West Midlands for work.
Also in September will see a new WG Rail Portfolio Minister, who may not be so keen to fund Geralds £2M plus annual running & hiring in cost for one journey a day up & Down,also the Ministers budget is I understand being cut by £150M from next April.
These ministers don't last long do they! How about scrapping the specific funding for Gerald and just funding the hire of the 67s and mrk3 stock for ATW to use as they see fit?

Indeed they don't, another Welsh Government Minister in charge of Agriculture and Natural Resources(Forests/Environment etc) was sacked this week by the first Minister for Gross misconduct, The Minister with the WG rail portfolio takes over agriculture until the reshuffle,so rail will take a back burner for a few months.

How did todays rug meeting go in Tywyn ?, did ATW put on a good show and confirm all is well with the new draft timetable for May 2015.Plus any news of ATWs proposed pinching of the 0745 service from Wrexham to Birmingham to put the unit on the Cambrian Hourly
