Cambrian Coast Line. Dovey Junction to Pwllheli

Why is there a lack of charter trains over this line? Is it to do with the ERTMS signalling or pathing constraints? There does seem to be a lack in recent years with only one last year and that was one way only.

Yes, it is exactly to do with it. No train without ERTMS is permitted except under very special circumstances, you can't very well drive a train on a line where you can't see all the signals!

NR have used the ERTMS fitted 97's for other work apart from Cambrian and some dates have been turned down because of it.

The first non scheduled passenger train path Monday to Saturday west of Sutton Bridge Junction is 0810 and then the second is not till 1115.

Thanks for your reply Gareth. Any info on West Coast 37668 & 37669 as they are also fitted with ERTMS? I guess that those paths are not really suitable if coming from further afield. Shame really.
