The preferred option is set out in the 'Quick Guide' paper. What is proposed is a dedicated bus-only road running south of the current A428.
Publicity states that it won't use guide-wheels and tracks; just a standard road for buses only (as per Gosport, or Runcorn).
But I can't find from the papers why the decision was made not to go for a second tracked guideway - as the options paper apparently evaluated the proposals applying guideway costs.
Does anyone know?
maybe:
- guided track costs too high; with no concomitant benefit?
- bad experience of poor constructon standards on the existing guideway?
- easier legally to build a road than a guideway - no need for a TWA order?
but someone must know the reason.
