looking for ideas of useful items you’ve added to your work bag over the years.

Here’s mine:
standard S*** bag and wipes
Power bank for charging
Clip for helmet
Small pouch for paracetamol lemsips ect
Deodorant (lynx graftica)
Mouth wash


Looking for any other ideas which have either saved you in the past or you

On passenger side I added in addition to what I was given:
Headache tablets
Powerbank
Long lasting snacks, such as biscuits, caramel bars or cereal bars (for extended delays in the middle of nowhere)
Spare keys!! (WHY are they not issuing drivers with at least two sets of keys as standard?!)
T-shirt (for last minute pub plans after work)

Most of the above, plus:

Large adjustable spanner
Earphones (for travelling pass)
Wide-necked empty drink bottle (yes, just in case, never had to use it yet)
Couple of bars of chocolate (in case of long delay toward the end of a shift)
Spare baccy/filters/papers/lighters
Socks/gruds/toothbrush (in case of heavy delay leading to unexpected lodge)
Jumper (never wear it, but one day the cab heater WILL pack up en-route)

I'm intrigued to know how a Lynx deodorant and mouthwash have 'saved you' in the past?

Were you sat in a loop in the middle of nowhere for hours on end and noticed a fit young rambler walking past, with a quick spray and gargle leading to conversation and ultimately some back cab action? The mind boggles.

did you miss the “or you use regularly“ part? I don’t know about you but when you may have to be in close proximity to others (such as colleagues or passengers) it’s nice not smelling or feeling like crap.

I was under the impression that a freight driver would generally have less cause to be in close proximity to passengers or indeed other colleagues than a TOC driver, except on the occasions they have to travel to or from a location which is often done by road transport these days anyway.

If I'm wrong then please accept my sincere apologies, no offence was intended.

No offence taken so no need to apologise but thanks anyway.

We have lots of jobs that require passing or taxi-ing to or from jobs. Then there are times where even if you are “out and back” you may still like to be freshened up a bit if you need to do something straight after work.

personally I’d substitute mouth wash for mints. Easier and lighter and no risk of spilling in your bag.

The lynx comes in handy in the summer when you’ve spent five hours on a 66 dripping in sweat and now have to pass back
