Was travelling back towards Bradford from Blackburn at 14:10 today when we were delayed fairly substantially by (what sounded like) a points failure. Engineers were called and eventually we were able to leave at around quarter past three.
Anyhow, before we left Blackburn, we were told that the train would be going fast to Bradford and Leeds and that passengers for intermediate stations should get off and get the next train which was now due.
So, I wonder what could have led to Northern's damascene conversion to non stop running on the Calder valley. Could it have been to make sure that we arrived in Bradford precisely fifty seven minutes late to avoid coughing up delay repayment ?
Shurely not !
