New breakfast menu:

Might give the vegan breakfast a go on my next journey.
The Full Scottish looks very dry, bland, and uninviting. No beans or fried egg - not sure they've got this right.

I'm forever confused about people claiming a 'full breakfast' while not including beans.

It's got a poached egg so I think that's fine on the egg front

Agree... beans are so cheap and easy to prepare I'm surprised. And poached eggs v fried eggs.. again, I would have thought the later would be easier to prepare (happy to accept I know nothing about food prep on a train - I can barely do it in the comfort of our own kitchen).
Worth noting, the picture in the publicity shots shows a boiled egg.. I would have shown a poached egg, cut in half with a delicious yolk oozing out.
Worth noting, the vegan option does have beans, albeit, not Heinz !!!

It's not even about the feasibility of cooking beans on the train, because they have beans on the vegan breakfast!

I think that may be a poached egg, just one that's really over-done. I agree though, a nice runny yolk would've made thhis a lot more appetising.

Even the haggis looks dry.

I think the current one looks similar. The egg is probably pre-prepared given that it looks like a halved boiled egg! I agree though, it looks dry without either beans or tomatoes.

Good to see gluten free options too, including that (unless they've messed that up) the sausage is gluten free as they often aren't.

The butchers the sausages come from ('Puddledub') do make gluten-free sausages. You would hope that these would be the ones the CS are using but I'd definitely ask beforehand!

I often buy gluten-free sausages as it usually means a higher meat content :D

Good to see Puddledub as a supplier. Nice sausages and lamb chops there - and they also do a very acceptable puff pastry steak pie. I was disappointed they couldn't make their butchery at Dobbies on the A7 stack up and it closed, but luckily my sister lives in Fife so she brings me stuff over.
Gosford Bothy farm shop and butchery down at Aberlady is also excellent.......but we'd better get back on topic!

Just to throw a metaphorical grenade into the debate, personally I think there is no place whatsoever for baked beans in any cooked breakfast! I also think the absence of a tattie scone is inexcusable in any "Scottish" breakfast! And if we want to bring cardio-vascular indicators into play, then a Scottish breakfast MUST contain at least one fried egg!

Poached eggs would be a pre-poached egg which goes in microwave, so for on train it's very easy to prepare.

Tomatoes yes, but beans should never be part of a full breakfast, Scottish or English! Any additional moisture required can be provided by lashings of HP sauce.... which is provided.
You had me till the mention of HP sauce - an abomination

Back to more mundane matters, what has happened to the northbound Highlander? Last reported as being 6 mins late at Lockerbie but nothing since

It appears to be stuck just north of Lockerbie.
