They can't (yet) couple to the new stock but at 66, the 67 should have enough ETS index for an 8-coach train of Mk 5 stock if previous discussions on the subject are correct. The 73s had to be completely rebuilt to haul the sleepers. It would appear to be more a question of ownership / lease terms.Wasn’t another reason that the 67s couldn’t supply the power needed for the new stock and the 73s could with less modification and expenditure (in that area anyway)?
