Did a Class 91 on the lowland sleeper 1M11 cause a de-wirement at Kensel Green tunnel east portal this morning on the UF?
That’s not the same at all. At any point in time the country needs a given amount of electricity. How the sale of that power is divvied up between it’s sources is purely a paper exercise. And it is zero carbon if that's the source of the power Network Rail are buying. To use an analogy, I don't accuse my wife of pretending to be vegetarian because I eat meat. "No one's vegetarian until everyone's vegetarian so you might as well have a bacon sarnie love" would be absurd.
According to O T T Maps, (11.15) 1M11 now 5M11 but still in the same position (UF just North of Queen's Park) that it has occupied since around 0645. Interestingly, DS now shown as blocked, which might be bad news for the trains standing on the DS immediately south of this point (DF shown as blocked for some time).Did a Class 91 on the lowland sleeper 1M11 cause a de-wirement at Kensel Green tunnel east portal this morning on the UF?

With a photo from Twitter of the damaged class 92 here:Another day, another delay for the sleeper, 1M11 has come to a stand near Queen’s Park, passed it on another train and it’s got its pantograph down. Damage to overheads is being said on National Rail
It appears , from twitter, that passengers have been taken of 1M11 outside Euston (#Kensal Green ) but without luggage,so how will the luggage be re-united with its owner ? Seems a bit hard on anyone planning to take an early flight out of London or catch early Eurostar ..LNR has just tweeted a photo of the damaged windscreen of the 92:

The correct analogy would involve a finite supply of vegetarian food. Let's say you and your wife are in Greggs and there are two meat sausage rolls and one veggie one. The person behind you in the queue would prefer a veggie one. 2/3 of you would potentially go veggie but only 1/3 of you can. In terms of reducing meat consumption overall, it doesn't make any difference what your wife chooses. And it is zero carbon if that's the source of the power Network Rail are buying. Been in about 15 mins now. See a colas bringing it in.https://twitter.com/NetworkRailEUS/status/1190185978998251520/photo/1

Yes, albeit a bit stiffly on Monday morning!
To be fair I’ve done it more often by day train on the way up - train north after work, either a lift or late hire car to ‘base camp’ that night, or overnight in Glasgow or Edinburgh and an early hire car straight to the hills. However the late flights back from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness are terribly convenient, usually cheap, and have me in my own bed well before midnight Sunday.
I’ve done this about a dozen times. I have also tried the sleeper (new and old) for the journey north, and it gives little if any extra time on the hills, and has the disadvantage of a day on the hills feeling half asleep, which isn’t necessarily a good idea.
Railtours seem to be a 1000 mile round trip without the benefit of the exercise therefore need to be immediately banned.
It was drs 57307 one of the west coast thunderbird locos was it not.Been in about 15 mins now. See a colas bringing it in.
If I commuted regularly from Garelochead to Kent maybe I'd prefer flying.Id guess that you don't fly very often. As someone who commuted from Garelochead to kent for 3 years id much rather go through security at Glasgow than have to do a cross London connection with luggage. thats before your train gets later and later coming down the WCMl effectively missing your last connection in London. Trying to get assistance from the various rail companies for the last 65 miles is almost impossible you just get fobbed off although you usually do get you money back eventually.
The supply of food is no more finite than the supply of electricity. Need more food, grow more food. Need more power, build more power stations. The correct analogy would involve a finite supply of vegetarian food. And I’m not sure a sleeper train with its low density, (particularly if single occupied cabins) is as carbon efficient as one might intuitively think a train service is.

Again... power that could be used elsewhere in place of fossil fuel derived power, if the WCML wasn't using it. No power is really zero carbon until all of our power is zero carbon.
I agree with @Brissle Girl - anyone seriously wanting to reduce their impact should probably think twice about travelling that large distance just for a day or two. Just like those European weekend city breaks by air. It's not saying that no-one should ever do anything - just to be conscious of the impact of what we do do, and not to pretend that using the sleeper in this way has no impact, even if (hopefully) it's better than flying (and it would be great to know what the real numbers are).
Looking forward to my first Lowlander journey and first on the new stock (have done the Highlander in the old stock a few times mostly in seats).
Any pair of seats offering the best leg room and or worst to avoid please?
I know certainly there were ones to avoid in the past!
Was thinking about 11B & C as no-one in front but is the wall there more of a hindrance?
I like 9A as there isn't a foot level vent giving you cold feet.
I would probably avoid those seats with the wall in front as you haven't got the legroom
Not sure what’s up but the Inverness sleeper is still in Perth (7:50)
Brake issues with the MK5s again
Brake issues with the MK5s again
Is their a reliable source for this? RTT is quoting code M7 (Door and Door system faults) the brakes would be MN (Brake and brake systems faults)
I know RTT is not always correct but it can only relay what is in TRUST, so someone must have entered this correctly or not.
