That's presumably because there was no lounge car southbound on the Aberdeen portion last night.

On a sleeper in Vietnam last year I had to share with 3 others, two of which were female. And that was the posh one! Difference is that I knew in advance.
Back in February, I was contacted by phone and informed the train had been cancelled. This was around an hour before my booked departure time, and after the train should have left Euston. The decision had only been made about 15 minutes before that it wasn't happening, so not bad really.

Travelled on the Night Riviera on Sunday from Paddington and all hit drinks and juices are complimentary as are crisps and biscuits got give four of the latter and two of the former with each pair I got. All served in nice tea pots in the morning plus the complimentary stuff applied to all.sleeprt passengers unlike CS where you only get a table if you are first..and the first class lounge was far superior at Paddington than Euston. Did the Fort William from Euston last year..Doing the Highlander back from Inverness on Friday night so will be interested to compare the two. At the moment the Night Riviera is on top. Sorry to be off topic but thought I'd give an perspective of both trains. Hope all is working for Friday night.
); it would never be feasible for every passenger to get a seat in the lounge for breakfast in the morning. Complimentary refreshments might be a good idea for CS to explore, but then again, I can't see that CS would be very happy about vital lounge space in the evenings being taken up by people simply enjoying free refreshments (and potentially stopping those who would pay for a full meal from using the lounge car facilities). I always wondered whether complimentary evening meals might be a good idea for First Class- then again, there probably isn't the lounge car space to offer this reliably.With regard to freebies, I agree it'd be awkward to offer it in the lounge car, that would have to give priority to those wishing to eat. But they could have a self-service tea and filter coffee station as long as you take it back to your bunk.
Crikey, they'd be shocked if they went to China, Russia or any other country that copies that style of operation - free hot water in every coach, bring your own tea bags!
