Caledonian sleeper seated accommodation

Sorry if this is in the wrong place or if its been discussed already.

Was wondering if seated accommodation on Caledonian Sleeper is available to passengers not wanting a bed on the overnight trains out of London?

Or is it seating for sleeper car passengers only?
And can I use an All line Rover on it.

Thanks for any tips.

It's normal seating usable using a Standard class ticket, including a Rover.

You must get a seat reservation - it is compulsory reservation and actually enforced, you will be turned away without one. A station can do this for you, or the GWR website if you don't mind not picking which seat.

Does that include Caledonian sleeper as well.

Book an A seat which are single

The seats on the B side are in pairs so you can end up with someone next to you

Just a heads up though the seats on the MK 5s are awful, and definitely avoid the ones facing the wall

Although it is actually enforced, you wouldn't be turned away if there was still availability.

It was a while ago now but I have seen staff have a massive go at someone who didn't have a reservation despite there being space, so I'd not try it. Can't remember if he got on in the end or not though.

Aside from Glastonbury or the middle of August, what you say is probably true of the Riviera, though that has far more seats.

I saw this in practice when I got the Night Riviera last year. Flights from the Scillies were fogged out so everyone was on tbe boat, which arrives in Penzance after the last train (apart from the Sleeper) has gone. Lots of people trying to use the Sleeper - as far as I am aware no-one was turned away from the seated accomodation (I assume they might have to do so once all the seats are taken), but they were told there were no berths available unless there were any no-shows further down the line.

However the lounge car attendant was very clear that people in the seats couldn't use it - I don't know if they rel;ented whjen those of us with beds had retired for the nighht.

I called Caledonian Sleeper today and they got me a seat reservation for the 2115 Euston to Perth on 1/10.
It Will be my 1st time ride behind a class 92 and a CS class 73/9
Bonus if its still topped with a GBRF 66 out of Edinburgh too.

Reservations aren't required on the Night Riviera, and when I last used it wasn't mentioned at all by the ticket office, or when checked on board.

On CS they're required but they will allow you to board without if there is still availability. I imagine they would leave you at Euston when it's full though (which is common in summer).
