There is works happening which is the key reason I'm wanting to book, 30th March. The Website suggests going via ECML, but the diagram says otherwise. Was wanting to book a Glasgow fare but they have all vanished (loads the other day). The only ones left are Edinburgh however if the train does stick to the diagram there won't be an Edinburgh service.

I'm sure its got something to do with Glasgow Queen st that weekend. What diagram is this?

On the 30th March, 1S26 will split at Carlisle and 1S26 will be diesel hauled via the GSW route

Sunday 1st April 1M11 starts at GQS (load 7 using an 86 or 87) and runs via the ECML with the attach of the Edinburgh portion taking place at Edinburgh.

Could be sold out already. Restricted capacity remember.

Failing that just give them a phone and see what they say.

Thought I'd ask on here first incase anyone knew anyway. I had looked the other day on the website and there appeared to be next to no bookings as the fares were all relatively cheap and didn't have signs of being limited. Should still be the same number of coaches I would think. Been waiting in the phone que for 30 mins.

Do you do Twitter - they're sometimes (more?) responsive on there...

Not sure if it was rumour or accurate, but I'd heard they were starting to put a couple of berths in each coach out of use when the new fares/pricing comes in as preparation for the new stock (which has less berths per coach). Seems a bit odd not to see tickets if there's demand and empty berths though...

87002 will most likely run in from Wembley/Willesden tomorrow am to work the Lowlander ECS.

I think what then may happen is 92018 ex-1S25 runs across to Glasgow to work the 5S26 ECS drag back to Polmadie.
92033 comes off the front of the double-headed 1B26 and is stabled in EDB for 1M16 tomorrow night, with 90049 running round to take 5B26 ECS back to Polmadie - and this I think solving the issue of the locos fitting in the platform?
Got the 87002 on 5M11 and 92018 running over (0S26 VSTP) to work 5S26 ECS Glasgow-Polmadie right, but would appear both 90049 and 92033 went back on 5B26 ECS move from Edinburgh to Polmadie so must have navigated the potential issues of fitting the Load 8 + 90 + 92 in Waverley.

Glasgow Qst has not seen a slam door passenger train for years, staff are not trained to dispatch them so it will be interesting.

Maybe using a similar system used when the Fort William portion calls at Glasgow Queen Street 6 days of the week?

Self dispatch as its a through platform AFAIK, this train will be leaving from the high level platforms which has just been completely remodelled and re signalled the train will need TRTS'd and a dispatch procedure put in place, and by the way the sleeper does not always call at GQS, it didn't last night. Ran via shotts

Looks like 92032 on 1S25 tonight and 92010 on 1S26.

Meanwhile 'Sleeper' 92014 headed north to Garston earlier and is currently working the car train.

Hoping for some switching about tomorrow night and 032 ends up on 1M11 out of Glasgow, but may be a bit too hopeful!

Am I right in taking 92014s reassignment as an indication that they're not overly confident with it at the moment?

I suspect 92032 will stay in Waverley tomorrow and work 1M16, but who knows what might happen...!

No idea re. 92014 - could be for any number of operational reasons.

Sorry if both these questions have been answered elsewhere in the thread, but does anyone know why;

1) The southbound Inverness-London sleeper doesn't call at Carrbridge, when the northbound does?

2) Why they supply 'pillow spray'?

1. The northbound provides a Kingussie to Inverness morning commuter service, the southbound runs outside commuter time. But if I lived in Carrbridge I'd be a bit annoyed by the inconsistency.

2. It comes as part of the Sleepover Kit. Other than that, I think that the fragrance is supposed to help you sleep!

I would be annoyed too. I can't see any hardship in it calling there southbound.

I wondered if that's what the spray was for. I got some last year when I did my 1st Class ALR. It smelt nice but I wouldn't say it helped me sleep any better.

To save me searching through 100's of posts, can anyone tell me what the performance of the 73/9s is like now? I know there were some serious doubts about whether they would be suitable for the job or not, so wondering what the current status is.

That good they still use a 67 on the Inverness.

They've been alright working solo on Aberdeen and Fort William for quite a bit I believe, current two being used are 73966 and 967. Inverness is running as a 67 for now, but will switch back to a 73 in due course.

They don't really have a choice but to use them, they're all modified (or getting modified) for Mk.5 operation and will be the only diesels(?) with those mods for the Highlander.

Current status of the 73s is as follows:

73966
- Stabled at Aberdeen working that portion

73967 - Stabled at Fort William working that portion

73968 & 971 - Stabled at Craigentinny spare

73969 & 970 - At Loughborough Brush receiving Mk.5 mods (969 is also being repaired after a shunting accident at Craigentinny)

I take it people for Queen St would of been told to get off at Dalmuir . When i took it from Fort William to Glasgow , a fair few got off at low level
