92010 is sitting pretty in the Klondyke siding at Edinburgh, looking good to work 1M16 tonight.

Reported that they've switched around again and 92023 is working 1M16 (having taken the Edinburgh Lowlander ECS out from Polmadie) and 92010 is back on 1C11/1B26. To be 100% confirmed though...

Will they need 032 as well to take them through the tunnel? Or is it only 2 locos when they're loaded?

AFAIK 032 was last seen going to Willesden.

92032 just took in the Lowlander ECS to Euston, so certainly not at the tunnel. The 2x 92s on the loaded tanks is due to the weight, so I believe the empties only need 1x 92.

Great video... what a view!

92028 was in Crewe HS yesterday with 66729 for company.

Aye, came off the cars after delivering 6X41 Friday morning and ran light engine (0L48) to Crewe H.S. (usual GBRf/92 stabling point) where I'm assuming it'll stay until it's move south tomorrow morning.

I understand 66729 was there to attend the Crewe Heritage Centre anniversary celebrations this weekend.

I'm due to be on 1S26 on Tuesday 25th at 2350, any chance finding out what might be hauling it? Fingers crossed for a 92!

The best pointer is whatever worked 1S26 tonight, as if it stays on the 1S26/1M11 rotation will also do Tuesday's 1S26. Unfortunately, it's the tatty Freightliner 90, 90047.

That said, as per the posts on the previous few pages, there's been a lot of chopping and changing of locos this past week and other attempts to 'predict the loco' have proved somewhat off the mark, so there's still chance you'll get that 92 you're after if you keep your fingers crossed.

92010 (due an A Exam I think) and 92014 were both at Willesden tonight, so there's options there for them to take the 90 out of the equation on Tue night.

In addition, 92023 was on the 'main' Lowlander during last week, but ended up on the Carstairs/Edinburgh portion on Friday night due to the shuffling around needed to get 86101 back south on 1M11 (after the 86 had replaced failed 90047 on Thurs night's 1S25). So there's a chance the 90 stays up North to do that circuit and swaps with 023.

Seriously... if that 90 comes anywhere near my 1S26, I'm done with Cally. And GBRf for that matter.

Any news yet on the return of 92043? It's been at Loughborough for nearly five months now. it must be close to coming back to service soon, surely?

It's very imminent - "end of the month" I heard a couple of weeks back from a reliable source. That said I heard that about 92028 for a couple of months before it finally appeared.

Received the blue/orange GBRf livery the other week too.

If you are serious..... get a sense of perspective. Getting bowled is part of the game!

When you play the game of bashing, you win or you get bowled...I should really leave the literature of George RR Martin well enough alone...:lol:

According to TOPS both 90047 and 92023 were on the Up Lowlander ECS move (along with ECS loco 86401), with Colas 47749 taking the Lowlander Edinburgh portion.

If this is true (and TOPS hasn't been all that accurate at times recently with all the loco chopping and changing) then would suggest both locos are coming South and is interesting as would leave them an A/C loco 'short' north of the border temporarily.

Suggests one of them may need attention down at Willesden (although could be for other reasons - e.g. one was booked and hence on TOPS, but failed and has been replaced late notice by the other).

Spoon working the Edinburgh portion tonight apparently - issues with 90047.

Music to Leo's ears ;)

There's an off-chance it means 1S26 tomorrow night gets two locos on it to even things up back in Scotland?

90047's recent history doesn't seem all that good...

w/c 10 July - sat at Willesden unused all week (not sure if out of choice or had an issue then);
Mon 17th - went back to F/Liner at Crewe Basford Hall - for an A Exam I believe (90045 came other way);
...returned just 4 days later (replacing 90044) on Thu 20th then promptly failed at Euston that evening and 86101 replaced;
Back in action last night, but appears to have issues again tonight...

A little surprised they're carting it all the way back to Willesden - in the past they've taken misbehaving 90s to Mossend and let Freightliner collect from there. Maybe whatever's wrong is something in GBRf's court to fix under the hire agreement, or on this occasion it's more practical to do a Crewe/Willesden 90 swap.

Oooooh I'm hoping for the best! May I ask, what's a 'spoon'?

Could I get an 86 on my 1S26 tomorrow? :o

A 'spoon' is a 47 - referring to the Colas 47 that GBRf have on hire (47749) that does odd workings in/around Glasgow for them on the Sleeper - usually stock moves to the Springburn Works for repair and the odd ECS.

It's pretty unlikely you'll get an 86, apart from at the buffer end bringing in the ECS. 86101 has been on Lowlander ECS duties recently at Euston so is the most likely to bring the stock in tomorrow night.

Would only get that on the front if the booked traction fails - and on top of that there'll be 92010, 92014, 92023 and 92033 all at Wembley/Willesden tomorrow (plus 90047 if it's brought on 1M11 tonight although may have been taken off at Polmadie, 87002 and 92028 (exam/fix)) - so I'd be a little surprised if they got as far as needing the 86. Also would likely to be trapped on the blocks if the booked loco failed...

Assuming 90047 needs some work and noting 90045 is on 1S25 tonight, it's looking very promising for a CS 92 on 1S26 tomorrow - fair chance it'll be 92023, failing that 92033/010/014.

when a loco gets taken on the sleeper for a swap it must be hauled d.i.t is it then or can 92s work in multiple with older locos not that they would need to either.

Happens very rarely and when it does they're DIT - as you suggest, there's no need for multiple working.

I don't know if 90s and 92s can work in multiple anyway?

(As an example, 92044 with DIT 86401 - not mine https://flic.kr/p/Sb66Me)

They can't.

Thought not. 92s can of course, but I can't see any reason they'd both be under power if for some reason one was being moved within the consist. The gross load of a full rake is c.675 tonnes (just over 800 with a DIT 92 added), which is well, well within a single 92's capability (designed to haul 2,000 tonnes up the steep inclines out of the Channel Tunnel).

Two on the front (both powered) would be totally unnecessary!

92's official haulage capability is 1600 tonnes. You cannot use a pair in multi on classic supply. Under this arrangement you get one converter from each.

"Officially" yes - although the china clay train with a DIT 66 is somewhat more than 1600 tonnes...!

Interesting info on the mulit-working - is this due to the inability of the classic supply to cope with 2x 92s drawing full power?

I saw 92023 heading into Wembley carriage shed about 18.15 this evening. Possibly for 5S25 and 1S26 later?

Yes, correct.

92033 on 1S25 (Highlander)
92023 on 5S95 (Highlander ECS) / 1S26 (Lowlander)

and 86101 I believe on 5S96 (Lowlander ECS)

90045 is at Waverley having taken 1S25 there last night, so most likely to be on 1M16 tonight.

Not sure which of 92018, 90047 (if fixed) and 47749 are doing 1M11 and 1C11/1B26 Edinburgh/Carstairs circuit between them. I'd put 92018 on 1M11 if it were me!

EDIT: Reported that 92018 is on 1M11.

I know it's not the done thing to talk about DB 92s on here ;) , but reports elsewhere state that 92012 is for sale in Romania, while 92003 and 92026 are expected to be used for spares. :shock:
