I always thought that one of the joys of the Caledonian Sleeper was the porridge and kippers (personally I hate the things) as you passed by Loch Lomond on the way to Fort William. So sad to learn it's now just a carton of orange juice and an inedible bacon roll microblasted to death!

That was a long time ago in the days of British Rail and The Royal Highlander. Last time I was on the Caledonian Sleeper the train was diverted via the ECML and I was slightly disappointed to receive just a coffee and a few shortbread sticks for breakfast despite having a first class ticket. I guessed at the time it was because the breakfast supplies would normally have been loaded at Preston or Carlisle and the late diversion put the kybosh on this. Having looked at the pictures above I'm quite glad I only got the shortbread now!

Wy don't you buy a couple of breakfast bars and have them as a quick fill up and then say you could find somewhere when you get off the plane.

That breakfast tub thing looks horrible. Like sausage looks disgusting and the egg yuck!!

EDIT: *train not plane!! Was watching friends and Rachel had just said she got off the plane so I had it in my head ;)

The Night Riviera washbag is no more folks. I did my usual £49 solo advance a couple of weeks ago and the bag was not there!

Could it not just be an oversight on that particular journey , or did you ask ?

There was a flannel and small piece of soap instead, so I'd say it's definitely gone the way of the little plastic box with razor, toothbrush etc that ScotRail used to provide.

Looks a bit like an East Coast Offering .......for a whole carriage

Wonder how many calories are in that "Bellybuster" ?

6,000. Was in the newspaper today. £15 at a caff in Rochdale, but free if you finish it within an hour.

That looks like what happens when I have the buffet breakfast at a Hilton. :D

Try Japan sometime. I'm a Hilton diamond guest so get complimentary breakfast. If you time it right it keeps you going to dinner.

To the original point, I suppose keeping the breakfast available in the lounge car means those who don't want it don't pay for it. But if they're going to do a full breakfast, they need to do it properly.
