Are there any Caledonian Sleeper staff on here (or those with an understanding of its fare structure) who can answer this:

I have a berth supplement for a standard class berth (or ‘classic’ as the current sleeper operator calls it) on the 21:15 Euston to Inverness departing Wednesday 22 January and arriving Thursday 23 January at 08:45.

This needs to be used in combination with a walk-up standard class travel ticket to be valid, but which one? Is off-peak or super off-peak acceptable or does it need to be an anytime single?

Caledonian Sleeper guest services centre do not know the answer and have suggested that I ask at a ticket office. I did ask at the ticket office at Euston the other day when I was passing through but they say they’re not sure as it’s not something they’ve issued in a long time and that I should ask Caledonian Sleeper directly (going round in circles). If even Euston don’t often deal with this I don’t think I’d get a better answer out of any other ticket office. The Caledonian Sleeper website suggests that off-peak is allowed in connection with the supplement but this may only be for weekend services.

Does anyone on here know what the answer is?

Any flexible ticket valid for the service.

You can't, for example, buy a seated coach advance and a supplement (if that somehow worked out cheaper...), but a super off-peak, off-peak or anytime are all valid for travel in a berth with the supplement.

Many thanks!

Does this apply to sleeper services arriving in Inverness on a weekday morning as well as those arriving on a Saturday, given that the arrival time is 08:45 and technically still in the ‘morning peak’ on a weekday? Or does the fact that you started the journey at 21:15 the previous night negate this?

The only London to Inverness ticket that isn't Anytime is a Super Off-peak: https://www.brfares.com/!faredetail?orig=EUS&dest=INV&grpo=1072&tkt=SSS

For the outbound journey, the restriction code (9F) only has limitations on what time you can depart from stations in London and the surrounding areas. There are no restrictions on what time you must arrive in Inverness.

In general, Off-Peak or Super Off-Peak tickets are accepted on the Caledonian Sleeper. The Sleeper either departs/arrives outside the restricted periods, or for the 'morning peak' arrivals into London there is generally an exception stated in the text that accompanies the restriction code.
