What if we ditched the Edinburgh to Inverness section and instead split at Edinburgh for Fort William and Aberdeen with a further split or continuation at Aberdeen to serve the stations between Aberdeen and Inverness?

I think that it could be worth tapping the market along that route as Scotland is more than the A9 corridor and I'm sure there must be untapped business/tourism demand in that part of Scotland.

I'd be in favour of a Wick/Thurso - Glasgow Sleeper to compensate for the lack of the Edinburgh - Inverness section of the current sleeper. I dont think it is worth connecting Wick to London as its too far and impractical but for Caithness locals to be able to wake up in Glasgow might be really good for business and internal tourism.

Your thoughts.

I don't think that's sensible, to be honest.

What I would do is ditch the Aberdeen portion entirely and move to a simpler operation of a Glasgow/Edinburgh and a Fort William/Inverness.

The A9 corridor has more places of significance for tourism (Aviemore, Pitlochry etc) than the A96 corridor and besides, a conveniently timed connection exists for onward travel from Aberdeen for stations to Elgin.
