Caldervale Line services

A landslip between Hebden Bridge and Burnley is causing delays to Caldervale Line services between York, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Hebden Bridge and Blackpool North.

Buses are replacing trains between Blackburn and Hebden Bridge, with journey times extended by up to 30 minutes.

Passengers are being accepted on First Transpennine Express services between Leeds and Manchester on all reasonable routes.


Does anyone have any idea of whereabouts the landslip might be, also if any what will happen to any trains trapped at the wrong side of the landslip

Burnley line rail services suspended after Cornholme wall collapse

TRAIN services on the Burnley line running from Preston to Leeds have been suspended following the collapse of a retaining wall at Victoria Street, Cornholme.

The wall collapsed last night and Network Rail engineers are assessing the problem.

Looks like both pics show "tell tales" attatched to the stonework at the repair interface on the right !

Given the previous collapse, are there now any new methods available to engineers to give more strength to a future reinstatement.

I think it may be prudent for someone in NWR to go back through the records and find out where all previous collapses have occurred and then check on the standard of repair and reinstatement.
This case seems to illustrate the point nicely.

Since this collapse occurred in exactly the same place as a previous occurrence and noting the housing very near to this, what decision was reached when the current reinstatement was planned ?

looks like the Washing line is all that was holding up the previous repair. Not good !
