All the publicity I've seen from EMR looks as though they are the same seats as fitted to the 745s

They are, yes.

which is very disappointing because, contrary to popular opinion, I thought they were very uncomfortable.

I find them near identical to the Grammer E3000 (Desiro seat) which is one of my favourites, though not as good as the IC3000 or ICE3000.

IIRC they published the data after the trains were specced, but I might be wrong. I do however know that the most favoured set was the one now fitted to the 755s etc.

And the 745s, the interior is basically identical but for 1st.

They’re a lot better built. The E3000 seats always seem thin and flimsy to me, and that’s speaking as a very slim guy. I can’t imagine they’re very supportive for the broader customer.

Sorry I’m confused now. Either they did or they didn’t release the data

I am "broad" and very heavy and they are great for me.
Ah, maybe I just have a resentful bias against them after several nasty journeys at 7am from London to Crewe in them then  I do live local to the 444s and find them perfectly nice, and I like the 185s too.

What I am hoping is that the first class in these CAFs will be more than just the exact same seats in a 2x1 configuration.

I'd expect either an even better seat (like FISA Lean) in first or just standard but with a piece of cloth on the headrest, probably the latter.
