Good pictures Chris, now the 40 miles from Caernarvon to Blaenau Ffestiniog can be done by rail, however I hope the cost is kept sensible plus ATW/VT & WHR sell it as a round trip with the short run to/from Bangor by bus built in.

I went Caernarfon > Pont Croesor return recently and found the journey to be too long.

However, now they are open to Port, I will take trains from Harbour to Rhyd Ddu return instead. The Caernarfon > Waenfawr stretch for me is pretty dull.

Also journey times will be long for a while before the track beds in and they can lift the TSRs.

Really looking forward to next time, it is a minor miracle how they get so much on such a narrow gauge

Fantastic, next year will see a visit up there for certain, my new son/daughter shall get to break in their narrow gauge legs ofr the first time on there with a round trip I reckon. The Aberglaslyn Pass looks just as stunning as I'd heard, even in the dull, and i look forward to the section from Rhyd-Porthmadog as I haven't been over this section yet. I reckon that the September event for 2011 should be pretty awesome!

Looks like there'll be a temporary Caernarfon - Porthmadog Harbour service between the 20th and 27th of February while the FR is closed. Reckon I'll have to go up for that!

It depends what the TSRs are. They usually work on the lowest speed ones first and work up.
