A course started in November so they need to get trained and passed out. They are to replace the shunters who would be going on the next driver course. There are rumours of another 1 or 2 driver courses after that so would need new shunters to replace anyone going up. Probably 3-4 months before another course maybe less. Nothing guaranteed though.Hi is anyone else in the talent pool for the c2c shunter driver position? The 2019/2020 one.
I understand there is no guarantee of a job but does anyone know realistically how long I am looking at before a job comes up?

im Presuming if I haven’t had any news by now then I’m out of the running.
slightly frustrating to be in two different talent pools with little chance of getting a position at either company. Frustrating but that’s the way it is, just have to keep plugging away.

Training for the previous Shunter course has been suspended since the lock down. As well as the mainline driver courses. I believe the plan was to have another Shunter course starting soon but obviously everything has been pushed back months.
The street to seat course has only just resumed classroom training but only for a few days a week. Need training to get back to normal first before they can think about another Shunter course.

I’m in the talent pool for shunter but I was never considered for the trainee driver role.
To be honest I think becoming a driver is unachievable for most people. There’s only so many times you can keep applying before you realise you don’t stand much of a chance.

Ok, that's a shame. Maybe I'll try emailing recruitment. Doubt I'll get a reply atm tbh.Very rare to recruit qualified drivers. Mainly promoted from the shunters although there was recently a street to seat driver course.
