As the old thread has been closed, I'm going to ask my question here:

Is anyone able to provide an up to date list on which of C2C's class 357s are in the new livery (white with pink doors) and which still retain the old NX era Blue doors livery? Real Time Trains still doesn't show units in the correct livery (for C2C) so I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

Thank you! This is just the kind of list I was looking for!
No worries, that’s all in correct order from first to most recent one done, while the last forum was closed up, the official list has been going on the dedicated 357 Facebook group, will keep updating soon as the next one is delivered & back into service. Safe to say the /0’s are nearly all done & ready to move onto the /2’s.

Normally on Wednesday or Friday nights, the Ilford/East Ham swaps via bow curve occur on rtt around 9-11pm.

357031 is finished and is heading back tonight, 357027 is the next one in and went in last night.
Yes 027 went Wednesday night & 031 came back last night which would’ve done the night before that but unfortunately c2c hasn’t been having a great performing week during the evening rush hour twice this week, should be back into passenger service either bank holiday Monday or Tuesday.

035 is our 46th unit completed & out in traffic today.

036 is booked into Ilford this evening & 027 will be returning.

I'm sure we're all aware by now but 357s 008 and 020 now carry the full GBR paint scheme, and I've seen it reported that these were the last 357/0s to get repainted. I'm thinking it might be time for an updated list of which units are in which livery and how many are still in the old NX livery.

Yeah no more /0’s left around in NX anymore, just remaining /2’s & 3’s to be repainted in GBR, no more units going into magenta after 044.

Just seen 357325 in east ham with its rather faded diamond jubilee union flag on, is this the only union flag left? has 327 been sent in yet?

other than the gbr coloured ones which are plastered with the union flag all over!

Not yet, 327 is parked on 17 road at Shoeburyness with it’s half peeled off union flag.

203, 210 & 205 are being done at Ilford currently.

What I find more significant is not when rolling stock is repainted, but when it is refurbished and given new seating moquette.

Mind you, as I don't think I've been on a 357 since 2008 I may find it different from expected for when I ride one next month.

They had to re-paint them all, because they had to do mid-life corrosion repairs to the bodywork of them all anyway. That’s all that the contract included - there hasn’t been any work done to the interiors at all, not even deep cleaning, so you’ll find sagging moquette and seat cushions, and floors etc. with a lot of ingrained dirt. Trenitalia c2c (as it was at the time of the contract being signed) presumably wanted to spend the minimum amount possible, before the end of their contract, given that they knew that it wouldn’t be renewed, due to GBR coming in.

OK thank you for preparing me.

I realise I did use C2C in 2013/14 but have not used that line since.

I was only due to travel out as far as Rainham, but may use other lines instead to avoid those dilapidated 357s.

They’re not that bad - I find their seats more comfortable than those on newer rolling stock. Their moquette I think has been replaced once since they were new, just not that recently - I seem to remember that it was originally green, but was replaced by one that’s kind of slightly greyish-purple, with magenta and white flecks in it. There aren’t that many sagging seats and cushions, but the interior isn’t quite as clean as it could be. Perhaps you could look for a recent-ish video on YouTube which shows their interior, which will give you an idea.

They were refurbed from 2015-2017 to the pink/grey colours inside, new flooring, seat covers and grab handles. Including the refitting and remembering of the metro units in 2015/2016

Thanks, that already means they will be different from when I last rode one. So I should ride one in September after all.

The “metro” units (which are marked with stickers saying so on the door windows) are the Class 357/3s, re-numbered from Class 357/2s, which have had the aisle seat of the 3+2 removed to make them 2+2, to give more standing space. c2c has some Class 720s now as well, like the ones on Greater Anglia, as a follow-on order from theirs, but with a different moquette colour, though the same stripy pattern, and some fewer seats, with more 2+2 rather than 3+2, to make them easier to walk through. Their seats aren’t as comfortable as the Class 357s’ though, in my opinion. I hope the new interior refurbishment planned for just over a year’s time until 2029 won’t replace the Class 357s’ seats with less-comfortable, thinner seats: https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...ain-in-new-livery.302338/page-36#post-7912226
