Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway has been served a legal eviction notice by the land owner Cemex.
The volunteer run railway group has been given ten working days to remove seven carriages and wagons from a section of track to the southwest of Chinnor station or else the company will move them up to Birmingham.
The railway said that they had met Cemex and their land agent a few days before the notice was issued, and that 'there was no warning of any legal action mentioned'.
They added that 'railway volunteers were already planning to move the carriages, but not at such short notice'.
The group believe Cemex want to redevelop the land or sell it to developers. They've raised concerns that this notice could affect the 'Santa Specials' that run on the railway.

I'd be interested to hear what's actually going on here. Also, where do you put seven wagons and coaches in a hurry?!

There is a coach that has been placed in the sidings at Princes Risborough behind the ex water jetter coach. Whether the rest will be moved there, only time will tell....

the coach that has been placed behind the ex water jetter coach at Risborough is there to provide rest room facilities for our work at Risborough. If you are familiar with Chinnor's station layout it was the old red LNER coach that was down behind the Signal box.

Sorry but im not familiar with the layout. The only time i have ever been near the Chinnor railway is when the works train is in the siding at P Ris...

Aye, we've had agreements to run into Risborough since July. We hope to get the 99 year lease from Network Rail for it in the next few weeks and to have a cross platform interchange with your services by March 2017. And that 14 you saw was actually the only surviving Class 17 Clayton, an absolute 900hp monster.

A ccording to the latest Watlington Flyer the stock will be moved by the end of November and the track will have to be moved as well.Still no real reason for this move But the extension westwards is not compromised also there is to be a great deal of trackwork to do in Chinnor station in January. The new Risboro station is happening and the site looks very different to when the first train arrived.Next year we will be well worth a visit and I am sure you will enjoy the visit.

A little O/T, but what's this Westward extension? I saw mention of it recently but from what I read it seemed like no small task!

Aston Rowant has always been on the radar ,the track bed is still there and it would provide an excellent park and ride destination for the line. But many other projects come first and Risboro will be completed plus much upgrading of the track and new layout at Chinnor to provide a run round facility and complete the new works building .Its a busy friendly line and welcomes new volunteers who can help to make us go forward.
