BZ4 to ... cheaper ticket?

Hi

Because I can't check on online journey planners, can anyone check to see if there is any saving to be had by getting a standard Anytime BZ4 to Luton Airport rather a Mill Hill Broadway to Luton Airport?

There is ofcourse the advantage of being able to use EMT services and FCC Bedford/Brighton services from the core.

The only benefit in this case, is that if you do not hold a season ticket, the BZ4 ticket allows you to take fast trains not calling at Mill Hill Broadway whereas the Mill Hill ticket does not allow this.

However if you hold a season ticket, then you may use non-stop trains on either ticket, so there is no benefit in that scenario.

Thanks all. In almost every other scenario I have come acros, it has always been a bit cheaper to get a BZ4 as effectivley I'm paying for some of the journey twice, albeit a small part in this case. Pretty sure when I purchased a BZ4 to Elstree & Borehamwood (the next stop up the line) it was cheaper than buying a Mill Hill to Elstree & Borehamwood but I'll have to go back and check my old tickets.

I'd expect that to be the case. Because fares in London are zonally based you pay for 3 zones from Mill Hill but only 2 zones from the boundary.

Doesn't always work though. I have an annual Z1-3 and if I'm going to Stansted or Gatwick airport it's cheaper for me to buy from a named station (Northumberland Park or Sydenham London, since you asked) than Boundary Zone 3.
