this is all i'm getting when i load up BVE. Can anyone help me?

Looks like its some kind of error with directX. Don't know what to suggest as a cure, you could try reinstalling BVE.

the sound card is on the motherboard, so I can't re-install that. I'll try to reinstall BVE

Of course you can reinstall, even if its an onboard sound card. The sound drivers should be on the motherboard CD.
