Yeah Michael, thats a good idea may be the thread could be developed into an FAQ for new BVE users. with how do I ... things like install trains, new routes, and change the train a route uses etc.

Looks good - I'd suggest you go a bit further into Railway and Train though. I can see it being really useful as there are quite a few people who don't know about the folder structure.

Like I said, I haven't had much time with it, in every folder I will be going down to file level

Just a heads up: You have the Objects going into the Routes, and vice versa. ;)

Great otherwise. :)

Been another update ;)

Here's where I need your help - what would you like me to include on the diagram? Let me know and I'll see what I can do!

Right, I've moved on to a written guide (see attachment)and as such, have finished with the diagram.

If there's anything you want adding to either, just say (bear in mind that the guide is still an early W.I.P)

Eventually I will compile the whole lot into a PDF. If you like the idea, or have an alternative suggestion, post here.

Now, a request: for the guide, I need error messages to include. I've already got the one:
Code:
C:\Program Files\Mackoy\BVE4\Railway\Route\Edinburgh\Timetabl es\2x37.csv(201) : Could not find a part of the path "c:\program files\mackoy\bve4\railway\object\edin\CuttingL02b. csv".: Structure.Ground(19) edin\CuttingL02b.csv
but I need more

Thanks for your help

Hi, mbonwick.

When you say "Have finished with the diagram" do you mean you're not going to use a diagram at all, or you've finished making it?

I knocked up this quick diagram in Powerpoint (!), which if you want you could use in conjunction with your guide. Otherwise I'll probably scrap it.

Download it from here:

I've finished tinkering with it for the moment - unless there's major stuff which people think I should put in, the next attention it will get is when it is merged with the guide into a PDF

As for your guide, I like it's structure and it's made me think about putting in for the other folders - Thanks.

Would you mind if I included it as an 'Easy to read' sort of option in the final file?

I've updated the guide again - take a look and see what you think

As I said before, if you have a suggestion or would like to help (like Tubenutter), please DO TELL ME!

In case your wondering why not all the keys are in the guide yet, don't worry! I am adding them slowly but surely, and the end product will include all of them!
I uploaded a guide with only some of the keys just to show you how I am getting on!

Right, everything (except diagrams) is now in 1 word document. :blob8:

PLEASE, PLEASE tell me what you think, as I'm not at the stage of putting it together. If you don't tell ne now, then it will be too late for me to do anything. This applies especially to the links page - if you want your site adding LET ME KNOW!

Thank You

I'm a bit concerned about this seeming lack of interest - if you don't want me to bother, just say!

Thank you, Jamie.

Just to let you all know, I have merged all the separate files in one PDF. All that I need to do now is a contents page and page numbering.

I would upload it here, but I keep gettinga memory allocation error and the file is too big for the TSC forums :!:

I'll fix that memory allocation area ... it's just playing silly buggers.

Hey Everyone,

I've been working on a minor update to the BVE4 FAQ, which I'll be releasing soon to replace the current version. I'm also working on a similar document for BVE2, and I intend to do a guide for OpenBVE and BRR.NET

Regards,

Michael

P.S. I'd be grateful for material submissions for the BVE2 guide.
