Bve 4 Maybank and Birmingham Downloads

[lupus.sanguis]

Hello

I am new to the forum and I am seeking information regarding BVE.

I remember playing the game way back in the day when BVE 4 was just a baby and my favourite routes was Maybank and Birmingham. I am still running XP and have installed BVE 4 and the Birmingham route however the Class 323 that was downloaded was for open BVE and the route doesn't work (due to the wrong 323 package).

I have searched google for original BVE 4 compatible trains and routes but a lot of the sites are no longer functional. I also cannot find the Maybank route anywhere.

Does anyone know if and where I might be able to find these files and any decent sites that still have BVE 4 routes.

If not, is it worth removing BVE 4 and installing OpenBVE (if this is compatible with XP 32-bit). Or does anyone know where I can get something as good as BVE. It seems to me that the older sites no longer run and BVE4 is becomming harder to get routes/trains for. I really would like to play on Maybank again as I liked the variety of trains (158/323/HST/66/37/etc etc)

Thanks for your advice in advance

If I'm honest, it may be better to move up to openBVE, as it offers a lot more flexibility when choosing your routes and your trains, and you can keep any old BVE4 content so there is no need to remove it. As for BVE4 content, you can get some of the old BVE4 trainsimcentral routes from here: http://www.trainsimstuff.org/other-downloads/older-routes

you can also get old BVE4 trains from here: https://sites.google.com/a/bve4trains.com/bve4trains/downloads-bve4

The maybank route is called Network West Midlands these days, AFAIK it's only available for OpenBVE
