Buzz Buzz?

An interesting one I have noticed on one instance ( sorry, no details will be given ) on an EMU was while watching the guard working from the local panel at the doors near my seat. The sequence was thus:

Guard does all the usual despatch stuff then closes his local door.

Buzz....

Train starts moving

....buzz.


And yes, I do mean the train jerked as the power went on literally between the two buzzes - and I was watching the guard's finger pressing the buzzer button, so no mistake about it.

He questioned whether that was correct procedure rather than the professionalism of the individual. It certainly was not worthy of the response you gave further upthread. Like it or not, anyone in any position should expect to be questioned about procedure. I may not like the fact that when I release data as part of my job, sceptical people will ask to see the correspondence that led to or may have influenced my conclusions, and I could say "it is none of your business what correspondence the analyst and I have had". But I don't I routinely set about outlining the (correct) procedure followed.

Everyone has diiferent systems for doing things. Some will before getting power, some will after getting power, some before and after as mentioned some won't. Sometimes the cab buzzer is knackered so we go to other methods. The only situation you need to worry about is if the guard diesnt buzz and is still on the platform and the train goes, no worry for what notch the train is in, that is whats comfortable for the driver who should only worry about what colour the light is in front of him and his job not what passengers think they know about it
