Bang on, any earlier than it was today and the sun can be a little bit of a pain, but just about OK today.

Yes. I tried a shot of A4 'Union of South Africa' from the footbridge at Shipley Gate when it headed north up the 'Wash a few years ago. A bit earlier earlier in the day, but the low sun ruined the shot :(

When the leaves are off the trees you can walk down that road on the opposite side to MFN and get good photos line side of trains coming south, but it becomes a little more 'green' when the leaves are back on the trees.

Yep I've photted there a few times. On that sort of derelict area with the abandoned sleepers, just before the under bridge.

Freelander, great photo; can you tell me what time the train passed through Chapel station?
My neighbour went to Buxton with his grandson and missed the locos.
Thanks!

A Bit late I know! But here are just a small few pictures I took of the railtour, from the 3AM start right up to the 8PM Finish from South to North. I hope these are of interest! Click on the pictures to Enlarge!

Water time! At Buxton, where the Tanker was at the bottom of the hill pumping water to 45231 and 44871. ^

On Shed at the ELR, 44871 along side ELR resident loco 80080. We arrived at the last NR timing point before joining the ELR around 110 Minutes early!^
