Why is the Buxton line never earmarked for improvements? Journey times are terrible, electrification is costly due to terrain and low tunnels. They could at least provide a speeded up service or make line speed improvements. Something I’ve noticed over the past few years is the train comes to almost a stop between Disley and Middlewood (could be for a foot crossing?). 20 years ago it rattled along between those stations and then down to hazel grove. Now it just crawls all the way along. I remember looking into the back cab and saw the speedo say 74 once back in the 90s
