Busy day for copy pit line

Preston - Manchester and Clitheroe - Manchester are all diverted that way today.

Is that the busiest day ever for this line which is quite remote in places ?

I was thinking that. Given that services to Colne on Sundays were recently upgraded to hourly, there are 4tph today between Blackburn and Gannow Jn. It is only 1 more than usual though but it does seem like an awful lot for the area.

That's right, it's only one tph each way more than usual since the Clitheroe to Manchester service would have operated Blackburn to Manchester anyway, it's only the Blackburn to Clitheroe extension which is different. This has been the recent routine if the line via Darwen has been closed, i.e. the remaining Blackburn to Clitheroe section has been 'tagged' onto the Manchester to Blackburn via Todmorden.
