It was recently decided by the Staff Team that in recognition of the growth of this sub-forum that it was deserving of a new header which was more in alignment with its position as an area for discussing buses and coaches.

Also congratulations on being the first person to notice this, admittedly, subtle change!

I noticed it but didn't post  so I lose out on a small amount of kudos :(

I had to look at the URL

I've always found it ironic that the buses area on this forum is actually busier and more informative than any 'purpose built' bus forum I've come across! :)

Keep up the good work!

I noticed it too - but only when on another computer where I wasn't logged in. Nice subtle one there guys ;)

Since ... yesterday I think! So well done to you and SS4 for noticing :)

I did wonder when it had changed - when I clicked through from New Posts and the background suddenly changed, I thought I'd been logged out at first.

Will there be any option to change it in the same way as the rest of the forum?
I'm sure there's a few of us with plenty of photos that could be used, including some buses that are a little more modern. :D

Nice modern bus you've chosen to illustrate it...

We use a cutting edge Voyager for the main forum? We get grief. We choose a nice vintage bus with plenty of character for the Buses sub-forum? We get grief.

Precisely what will make you people happy!

I like the bus we have. I don't like the modern rubbish - My Flickr bus album is mainly VRs and older so says older makes me happy!

Nothing wrong with an AEC RF - lovely machines to drive too!

It's a lovely machine to travel on too - shuttling to and from the Epping & Ongar railway and Epping, on registered local bus services, which is quite a neat idea from the railway and their bus operator!

Nice to drive, but not to conduct if you're about 6'6'' tall and insist on wearing a cap! There was a conductor at Bromley Garage in the 1960s & early 70s who fitted this description , an 'old boy', certainly the tallest conductor by far I ever saw, whose rota was a nice sedate 47 route on a RT Mon-Fri but, as Bromley didn't work the route at weekends, and 227 required as many buses on a Sat as M-F, was on the 227, RF crew-operated at weekends. Used to see him standing at back of saloon, head bowed and shoulders almost scraping the roof, until one day he threw caution to the wind and stood on the steps like most other conductors on 227: after that, he was even seen without a cap on occasion. An open-platform RF is one of the best buses on the planet in my opinion and I was privileged to have travelled to work on one for a few months in 1967/8.

A more modern bus would have been better, for the photo at the top. Congrats on making improvements to the site.

Unfortunately when viewing a thread in the bus area it's now impossible to view in the 'Mobi' format - is there any chance this can be changed?

Forum staff are now aware of this issue and we are looking into it. Thanks for bringing it up here.

Another vote for making it Mobile friendly - im not into photing or spotting but quite often rely on the forum for interesting vehicles that I fancy a ride on and sharing such info with others. As to the classic bus immage, keep it! If you want to see an ADL Inviro or an Opter Solo, just leav the house!
