About 7 years or so ago, I had a customer funded trip to Leeds.
VTEC provided, and the train ground to a halt with a loud thumping noise iirc somewhere around Welwyn, eventually canceled c2 hours late after a final 15 min or so trek at 15mph wheels thumping away at the back.
Fortunately we planned our day well, but instead of lunchtime planning in Leeds, it was planning on the train and straight to work in Leeds.
Expenses went in.
Delay repay went in.
Customer paid expenses.
VTEC refused delay repay due to “extreme weather”.
I promptly asked on another forum about that train, recieved a detailed reply indicating it was the hand brake left on in the dvt and the train was stopped by reports of heavy sparks from the wheels. The dvt required an after hours move with wheel skates back to BN.
I sent a reply, indicating the above, uploaded my video of the DVT banging away prior to its failure and asked for further comment.
I recieved a full refund, apology and another travel voucher.
I mentioned this to the customer, who simply asked for the video as they found it amusing and had no cares about the expenses.
You can hear the “bad weather” here still..
