Hi everyone,

I'm a filmmaker, and in January/February of 2024, I will be making a short film that needs a bus from the 1970s to film in whilst it's being driven around. I was wondering if anyone has a bus that is fitting for this time that wouldn't mind me using for filming for one day. I will be able to pay for this opportunity (within reason).

I am based around the Lancashire region, so if you're close to this area, that would be helpful too. Thanks everyone.

The Manchester Museum of Transport in Boyle Street or the North West Museum of Road Transport in Hall Street, St. Helens may be able to help.

The Museum of Transport Greater Manchester does lots of filming jobs and has appropriate 1970s buses. Drop a line to email@gmts.co.uk.
Thank you so much! really helpful :)

Is the film going to be based in the north west, or are you simply filming in the north west and pretending that it is London or somewhere else? The bus enthusiast fraternity would appreciate the right bus for the area, although not all cinema goers would appreciate these finer differences.

There are lots of museums and companies which can provide buses for filming. In London you have Ensignbus or Sullivan Buses https://www.ensignbushire.com/ http://www.sullivanbuses.com/, and http://www.classicbuses.co.uk/events.html gives details of local museums who may be able to find the right bus for the era and area.

The film is based in the northwest. I understand and appreciate that there are specifics when it comes to different periods of time and locations for what buses should be used. I'm trying to do as much research for it to make sure the accuracy is there.

Thank you so much for your reply; I appreciate the love for buses and other transports in this forum.
