Hi all

I was on a single decker bus in west london this morning.

The bus successfully managed to pick up passengers at the first 3 stops, however at the 4th stop, after the doors closed the bus refused to move. The driver restarted it twice but still no joy.

I noticed that the hatch above the the rear doors was slightly ajar. i mentioned it to the driver and I then pushed the latches shut. Without turning the engine off and on again, he tried to pull away, still no joy, the engine rev'd but the transmission didn't engage.

I had assumed that the hatch might have a micro switch that will prevent the bus from pulling off. Does it and if it does would "rebooting" the system have worked?

My primary reason for asking is that in the event of finding myself on another bus with the same problem, I might be of help to the driver, and my secondary reason is that I felt like a complete muppet in front of my fellow passengers. If I was wide of the mark, next time I will keep my mouth shut.

Thanks in advance.
