Bus users Bristol

I was aware there used to be a Bristol bus users group but from what I gather it no.longer exists. Is anyone aware of another bus users or pressure group in Bristol?

The problem is that any bus users group in Bristol quickly gets swamped with people of a certain political opinion who then have no interest in talking about anything other than how public ownership is the only way forward. As a result, those with more constructive intentions are left out in the cold and the project fizzles out. It's a shame because there is a lot that could be helpfully contributed by a public forum that didn't degenerate in to dogmatic political squabbles over ideologies.

There have been a couple like that. I seem to recall that there was the one that was really driven by the Trade Union and Socialist Coalition (TUSC); another was really a LibDem vehicle. Both were advocating public ownership on an ideological basis yet the practical measures to improve the situation could be done without anything like that.

If it could be apolitical AND not swayed by unrealistic wishlists (e.g. let's have a bus every hour to Chew Stoke) but has some sensible ideas, then it could be a force for good.

Indeed. If we could have those who profess to have an interest willing to listen and learn as well as moan, the potential would be even greater. But then i remember that this is Bristol and the city's favourite pastime is complaining whilst not really wanting a solution. Bit like Writhlington.

You mean Writhlington in respect of the endless complaints about inferior bus services? They then had not just more M-S services but even three buses on a Sunday that then carried the square root of naff all, but were then expanded so they had 5!

Of course, you were the operator of the 768 for quite a time....there was even a Citistar bus stop flag in Writhlington!!
