Bus Service Improvement Plans (BSIPs)

I've just realised that "Bus Back Better has been a complete success
Now, I don't suppose you ever expected me to say that, as someone deeply involved in an unsuccessful BSIP bid, but in one way it is a success.

I think this might be my favourite ever post on these forums because it sums up the whole, wasteful process for what it has been.

Of course, LTAs do have one benefit in their Enhanced Parternship documents - they can use them (and the conditions therein) to get rid of parts of the network which don't fit with their bright corporate future, exclusively operated by PLC groups. Or perhaps that is just my experience.

Sadly, living in one of the counties that will be getting nothing, I fear the worst now. With the recovery funding ending in October, it looks like there will be mass service withdrawals or frequency cuts to already low frequency routes. We have already lost most Evening and Sunday services and I guess many rural daytime routes will go.

So much for all passengers benefiting across the country!

Yes bad news. I worked for Worcestershire CC 1995* - 2003 when we had lots of money for Rural and Urban Bus Grant and Rural Bus Challenge. A lot of time and effort was put in by my team designing and implementing all these new bus services and I wonder how many remain. (* Hereford & Worcester to begin with).
