Just a little "heads-up"; if I travel from Bolton to London change at Piccadilly; I use my senior bus/rail pass for the Bolton - Manchester leg, which means that I arrive at platform 13/14 and can go via the overbridge to my London train usually on 5 or 6. That means my Avanti ticket isn't actually scanned - therefore if there's delay then delay repay isn't automatically refunded as the ticket wasn't scanned in!
So in order to get automatic DR (if you are registered of course!) it's wiser to walk all the way round to the gate and then get scanned in. However - my question is, if the guard on the train scans your ticket, is it then on the system for automatic repay?
