I've looked to see if there is a similar thread, but can't find an open one, so here goes.
Obviously the price cap is running from 1st Jan to 31st March on *most* local bus routes in England.
My experience on the Indigo from Nottingham last weekend was that it was significantly busier than usual! I tend to mostly get around by tram, but if my experience is repeated, this seems like a positive sign of the success of the scheme.
Personally, I'm a huge fan of the scheme. The price cap is going to massively benefit many of the people who are on the lowest incomes, while encouraging new passengers, or existing passengers to try taking the bus to new destinations.
I have a feeling bus operators are also going to see how reduced fares impact ridership and potentially consider if dropping fares may increase turnover and even profitability, if they can get more bums on seats.
Looking forward to seeing the stats. Even if it isn't a huge impact in the end, it's going to really help out a lot of people through a tough time, and for that it will have been worth it imo.
