I'm planning to use a Highland Rover in November and plan to catch the ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. I have done this before in the Summer and there is a bus timed to meet the ferry which goes to Kyle via Broadford. However, I'm not sure about in the winter. Stagecoach tell me that the timetable effective from after 23 October isn't available until a couple of days before but I need to book trains and accommodation sooner. Does anyone know if there are generally buses timed to meet the ferry in Armadale in the Winter?

This is appears to be a link to last year's winter timetable.
The last time I did the journey in October it was still Highland Omnibus running it and you could even sail from Mallaig via Kyle to Portree on the MV Loch Arkaig. Happy days!

Whilst the bus may match in with the ferry on the timetable, I did notice that it does not wait for passengers even when the boat has arrived.
We went over last year and the bus departed as we disembarked! Bit of a nonsense!

Looking at last winter's timetable will help you plan. We spent five days on Skye in March 2009 and the buses were manageable, if a bit sparse, for seeing most of the island. If you head towards any of the other peninsulars that most if not all buses will be school services serving some very long frequent stop routes.

Thanks :) Had a look and while there isn't a bus meeting the ferry there is one from just up the road.
