Has there been any announcement in the budget about further Bus Grant funding for 2026/27 onwards?

Yes and no. The budget included revenue funding of £750m per year for buses, but the only detail that includes is funding for the £3 fare cap.

If that is fare cap, BSOG and Bus Grant in one pot then it is less than this year's funding.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor also used her speech to confirm that the bus fare cap scheme in England would be extended until at least March 2027.

It was also announced that the government would provide a separate £750 million per year to “maintain and improve bus services”.

That is assumed to include Bus Services Operators Grant – accounting for £243 million in 2025/6 – but detail is lacking.

I thought Local Transport Grant funding was different to Bus Grant Funding?

Bus Grant funding is very welcomed but it needs to be longer than a year for revenue funding, as it takes time for service improvements to encourage growth.

Bus Grant funding is very welcomed but it needs to be longer than a year for revenue funding, as it takes time for service improvements to encourage growth.

It is, although there seems to be some overlap going forward. Further details of Bus Grant will be released later in the year apparently.
