Bus from Cambridge City Centre to Madingley Hall

I have to go to Madingley Hall Cambridge for a meeting in the middle of October.

I am travelling by train to Cambridge.

As hard as I try I cant seem to find any bus services (public or university) that serve Madingley Hall or a point nearby.

Am I missing something or is this a destination simply not "doable" by public transport?

Looks like C.G.Myall runs three services a day as No. 8 that call at the lodge. (Googled madingley bus and chose bustimes.org).

Hopefully someone local may come up with a better idea, but Google Maps suggests the half-hourly Stagecoach East 4 to Inglewood then an 18 min walk.

You *may* be able to get this bus from the Railway Station to the stop better known as "Madingley Mulch" (the stop is much closer to the roundabout than Google would have you believe): https://go-whippet.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/X2-X3-leaflet-99x210-220905-WEB.pdf The hall is about a 15 min walk from there, but there is a pavement.

If the times happen to be suitable then the 8 mentioned earlier is more convenient at the Madingley end, but leaves from the city centre.

The University did run a minibus on weekdays in term time from Cambridge station to Madingley hall in the morning and return in the afternoon, mostly for their own staff and students. Though not sure if it is currently running - it stopped during Covid when there were no students on site. If you contact Madingley they will be able to confirm if the bus is still running.

This is why I draw your attention to the issue - it's a bit of a problem

There is the Stagecoach 4 that goes from the city centre to the same stop at Madingley Mulch and they do post the cancellations on Twitter (and nowhere else, but sometimes at short notice as you can see), so you wouldn't be left stuck.

The Whippet twitter post for the 18th was a very understated way of announcing that there were two three hour gaps and one four hour gap in the service

I should mention that every now and again (far less often) Stagecoach also do a large batch of on the day cancellations, which can be seen at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/east/cambridgeshire

If you get really stuck (and don't want to pay for a taxi) the Madingley Road Park and Ride buses serve the car park just on the east side of where Madingley Road goes over the M11. It's a somewhat longer walk though, along a country lane, to the hall.
