HI guys, simple query.If I buy a day return from burnley Manchester road to Blackpool north tomorrow can I return from Blackpool South to burnley barracks?

The fare is identical but the individual stations are named on the ticket (not a generic Burnley Stns etc) so the purchased ticket should be zero excessed prior to commencement of the return journey.

This question persuaded me to dig out some research I did a while ago about "station groups"!
Interavailable tickets to all three Blackpool stations and to all three Burnley stations were apparently available until National Fares Manual 57 (issued September 1994) inclusive - so in practice, until early 1995 you could have bought a ticket allowing you to travel from any Burnley station to any Blackpool station. The origin and destination would have been BURNLEY BR and BLACKPOOL BR respectively.

So on arrival at Blackpool North ask them to excess it or can I do I with the conductor on the first train? I don't think there will be much possibility on the train back or at Blackpool South itself as I think it is unmanned! Also there will be hundreds of football fans there

The ticket cannot be excessed, as it does not come under any of the excess category.
A ticket to Blackpool North would normally be accepted at Blackpool South as an informal arrangement. This has been confirmed on the forum by Northern staff.
I am not sure about interavailability arrangements for the Burnley stations, however I suspect that if you ask the guard before boarding, he is unlikely to say no.
