Hi,

I am looking at taking a long weekend trip put to Budapest. Does anyone have the diagrams for the Deisel hauled M41 turns from Budapest Nuygati to lajosmizse? Are the loco hauled trains M-F or do they work weekends?

Thanks

I haven't seen any diagrams for the new timetable yet but last year they were mostly Mon to Fri only with a couple heading towards Lajosmizse on Sunday evening ready for Monday morning.

You can get last year's diagrams in the files area on the HunRail yahoo group and I am sure that the current ones will appear in due course. If you are not already aware there is a "mapper" available which will show you exactly where the trains are and which loco / unit is working it. Sorry, I don't have the link to hand at present as I am only on a mobile but there is an app available for Android called "Vonat Droid" which will do exactly the same thing; not sure if it is also available for I-phone.

Thanks, I've joined the HunRail group where the diagrams are uploaded. Finally, I see a bkk map showing the Budapest travel card zone limits. Are you able to use all MAV trains within this boundry for short leaps?

Though I am unable to find exact details of which MÁV services you can use on the pass, I would be surprised if they were valid on IC services as these are compulsory reservation, the wording on the BKK website is "designated services of MÁV-START Hungarian State Railways" which I take to be local trains only. Also, make sure that you get a Budapest Travelcard, not a Budapest Card unless you want to want to do some of the touristy things that the latter covers as well.

Now that I am on a desktop, the link for the "mapper" is at:

Thanks, seems like as long as I avoid IC services I should be ok. Still plenty of locos still about. Thanks for the tracker link

Saw on a gen group a rumour that 418s are being replaced on the Lasjomize line. Does anyone kno when this is likely or scheduled to happen?
