BT's Free Anti Virus Software

I have been using McAfee LiveSafe for the last couple of years and haven't had any problems with it, my renewal is due soon, RRP is £79.99 for 1 year, although they seem to be offering me special offers every other day.
My ISP, BT offers free Anti Virus and Net Protect as part of my package, I understand the Anti Virus is provided by McAfee.
I would be interested to hear if anyone uses, or has used this product and what their experiences are, basically, "Is it any good?".
I do quite a bit of internet banking so am quite concerned about security.

A friend of mine has the same package as yourself and I don't think he's had any issues with it.

As far as I know, it's basically bog-standard McAfee.

I use a free antivirus - currently Avast, and as far as I know, nothing untoward has got through. But if it has, Hello Moscow, how's the weather today?

I'd like to know in what way the paid-for anti-viruses are better than the free ones? If you open a dodgy e-mail attachment then whoosh...not sure there's anything any AV can do??

EDIT I do three people's internet banking on here + council tax payments, visa payments etc etc and no problems whatsoever *fingers crossed, touch wood...*

I was quite happy with AVG for many years, but recently it has become a bit of a resource hog. I switched to using Microsoft Security Essentials/Windows Defender and Malwarebytes - so far without any issues.
