BT change to its virus protection.

When I logged onto BT this morning, there was a banner stating that BT Virus Protect and True Key Password Manager are now powered by Norton.

Does anyone know of the reason for this change?

The reason is almost certainly "Norton were willing to pay us more than previous provider"

I remember many website members being somewhat scathing about Norton in recent years.

I won't repeat what you've clearly already read - but I would wholeheartedly agree with them.

My personal opinion is that running a still-supported version of Windows, kept up-to-date with all security updates; along with a combination of fully up-to-date Windows Defender (which, to be clear, is now an excellent piece of software and not the dismal cluster**** it was several years ago) and Common Sense v1.0 is more than sufficient for the vast majority of use cases.

As an optional extra, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will not go amiss - especially if you get it for free (e.g. by being a NatWest/RBS/Ulster Bank customer). It is designed to, and does, co-operate well with Windows Defender.
