Brussels Brupass 1 day ticket

Can someone knowledgeable tell me if I've got this right? I'm finding it a bit confusing.....

Most local transport in Brussels is operated by STIB-MIVB. I can just pay per ride with a contactless card and there's a daily cap.

If I want to also use SNCB services (or De Lijn and TEC) I can get a Brupass ticket.

BUT - I can't get the 1 day version on any app.

I have to first buy a MOBIB card which I can get from a ticket machine, then put the ticket on the card.

Indeed but it's rather annoying and seems completely unnecessary so I thought I'd check I wasn't missing something.
