Brussels Amsterdam FYRA rail service

Do we have any news on the introduction to the new FYRA high speed rail service from Brussels -> Amsterdam? This has been dragging on for years and seems as far off as ever. Is there any kind of service now using existing rolling stock? I know that Thalys trains use this line.

Today informed sources confirmed to me that the 5th Ansaldobreda V250 will arrive in Amsterdam Watergraafsmeer TMD tomorrow afternoon.

Their introduction for domestic services from Amsterdam to Breda is delayed (how surprisingly) by another year. (now planned for December 2012).

I don't expect any V250 service being introduced to Antwerp or Brussels before December 2013. However I do expect the current loco hauled Fyra service to be extended to Brussels from December next year.


But for now we have a twice per hour service from Amsterdam to Rotterdam.

Yes, indeed something like five years. And yes, they do look hideous.... But from what I heared the ride quality is superb.

They are rather wierd looking things. They're not as bad as the Talgo 350s though.

Though the Talgo 350 could be described as 'fugly' , I rather like it. Been on it twice. Fantastic ride. Great experience.

Definitely an acquired taste, but original and striking.

- It has no sense going faster. Hoofddorp to Rotterdam is Max 250 km'h and Rotterdam to Antwerp will be 34 minutes at 250 km'h.... at 300 km'h it's exactly 31 minutes. So you would gain a 3 minute benefit at a high price, economically not sustainable.

- What was the timetabled speed of those SouthEastern Highspeed trains again? Oh... yeah... 200 km'h. Those additional 50 km'h are just there to catch up when the're late.
