Brunstane - Coatbridge Sunnyside

My daughter was looking for OPDR tickets on this route, and told me that the ScotRail website showed no tickets were available at all.

I get the same result, with a message "No tickets are available, please refine your search". Tried variations on the journey, including 'vias' with same negative result for Lanarkshire and some east Glasgow stations.

Can anyone advise why this is? Are there in fact OPDRs for Brunstane to Coatbridge Sunnyside?

Bizarrely, the Scotrail website is happy to sell OPDRs from Brunstane to Coatbridge Central, a 2 hour journey with three changes!

It would appear that this flow has no fare defined according to Avantix.

If the OP wants to make use of the cheaper rates offered by CDRs (Off-Peak Day Returns) then it would be better to split at Edinburgh.

I had assumed that Cheap Day Return was now out of fashion as a phrase, and went with what ScotRail use.

I don't think so. Due to 'complication (simplification)' a few years back, we now have different ticket codes being given the same name.

Generally speaking, although not always:

Super Off-Peak Day Return didn't use to exist and now encompasses a range of different codes depending on the operator that created the fare.
Super Off-Peak Return was Super Saver Return (SSR).
Off-Peak Day Return was Cheap Day Return (CDR).
Off-Peak Return was Saver Return (SVR).
Anytime Day Return was Standard Day Return (SDR).
Anytime Return was Standard Open Return (SOR).

You can also substitute the letter R in the codes for S to get the single fare version, e.g. CDS (Cheap Day Single, now Off-Peak Day Single).

A personal favourite of mine which many people understand wrongly is OPR, which is Super Off-Peak Return on many flows priced by London Midland, created after the changeover.

You just get used to them over time.

Seems to be no fare from some Fife stations also - eg Dunfermline - but ok from Inverkeithing.

Try Musselburgh as that is the fully priced station related to Brunstane/Newcraighall?
