EC60 is being stopped this weekend (end of Brown interior) and someone I know would like some pics of the innards. I believe it's 1E12/1H30 today then should be 1A16/1S14 tomorrow. If anyone happens to be in the LKX area when it's around and they could oblige I would be grateful!

1E12 0755 Inverness [INV] to London Kings Cross [KGX]
1H30 1719 London Kings Cross [KGX] to Hull [HUL]

1A16 0744 Harrogate [HGT] to London Kings Cross [KGX]
1S14 1130 London Kings Cross [KGX] to Edinburgh [EDB]

Noooo! I always look forward to travelling on the unrefurbished stock as I find them to be miles more comfortable then the refurbished stock.

Still it had to happen sometime though, didn't it, :(

Is the brown interior the original HST decor? I've always thought a bit of British Rail trojan moquette would suit these sets brilliantly.

It's at least the third moquette - they were originally a mainly blue colour, become red on refurbishment in the mid-80s. I can't remember if there was another style in between that and the brown or not.

The 'brown' interiors were spot on and very comfy too apart from the dust that the seats/cusions held in. I remember doing this last year on the Tyne Valley diverts, kids in the same coach were bashing the cushions, the carriage was shrouded in dust LOL

I always like the brown in a way. It was by far the most comfortable train I ever travelled in, and it looked back to a bygone age that I never knew.

At the same time, it was the most hideous thing to look at!

It's a mystery to me how people find IC70s more comfortable than those gorgeous Mallard seats. Each to their own though, I accept that height and build affect the sort of support people need.
