While looking on the Resl Time Trains website, I have noticed that the three letter code for Brockley Whins is BNR.
I get the first two letters, but am puzzled by the R.
Was the R for County DuRham at the time three letter codes for stations were designed, as before 1974 everywhere in Tyne & Wear that is south of the Tyne was in County Durham?
